Genuine Skulls & Skeletons
The Bone Room began with a few fascinating skulls,
and to this day we try and carry a wide selection of human and animal
bones and skeletons. What do people use them for? Everything! Their uses
are as varied as our customers. Some use them in art, others use them to
study and teach, some people just appreciate their sheer three-dimensional
beauty. What will you do with yours?
Human Bone Laws & Information
In short, it is perfectly legal to posses and sell human bones in the United States. There are a few exceptions and adendums to this including a few states where import and export has been banned, and of course, that only certain human bones from particular places can be bought & sold legally. Protected Species
In accordance with local law, we do not sell any material from species listed on the U.S. Federal or California State Endangered Species Lists, any Migratory Birds, nor Modern Marine Mammal species. For museum-quality reproduction skulls of protected species, please see our Cast section.
Bone Preparation
For instructions on cleaning your own animal bones, please see our Bone FAQ. When doing so, please be aware that many local animal species are protected. Laws may apply even to found remains (yes, this means roadkill too!).
