Best Taxidermy Shop

Who can resist the charms of this spooky "natural history store," whose delights range from baby llama skeletons to human finger bones? Biology nerds and gore-ophiles will fall in love with this tiny Solano Avenue shop full of fossils, sundry animal parts, and unusual jewelry — beetle wing or bacula earrings, anyone? (A "bacula" is the penis bone found in most mammals — but not humans.) Browse the aisles for a minute, ponder the weirdly small price difference between the taxidermied blasé pigeon ($150) and glamorous pheasant ($200), as well as the question of who has $900 to spare on a Sumatran spitting cobra skeleton. If you're looking for a quirky gift and are on a tighter budget, consider some chocolate-coated crickets or scorpion lollipops.
