Pathological Human Skulls

Real Bone - Pathological Human Skulls - The skulls that merit the title of "Pathological" demonstrate characteristics associated with diseases, anatomical deformities and abnormalities, or just plain bad luck with hammers and other blunt objects. While in some cases these maladies were terminal, many of the skulls show evidence of the body's remarkable ability to heal and protect itself from the daily traumas of life itself.

Operations & Disease Caused Anomalies

These skulls exhibit bone abnormalities caused by a medical condition. In some of the skulls a disease directly caused the deformation evenly throughout the tissue, and in others an operation for a different condition indirectly caused the bone tissue to be compromised.

Trauma

If a skull shows signs of a severe blow, cut, or severe abuse to the head that had begun to heal in life it will end up in this section.

Dental and Other Anomalies

Sometimes a skull will have an extra tooth, or perhaps a tooth is growing out of the wrong place. Sometimes a skull will be oddly misshapen or has an inexplicable lump on the cranium. In any of these, and other like cases, if it makes it into The Bone Room, it'll end up in this section.
