Sometime around 1951 a mass weighing 1500 kilograms was found by a local citizen. Esquel is one of the prettiest of the pallasites with large lime-green crystals. Scientists believe that pallasites formed when the molten core of a planet mixed with the silicate magma. The olivine crystallized of out the silicate as it cooled, and was then forced into the metal "mold" where the mass solidified.
