The man-made mineral silicon has to be absolutely perfect to make it into your computer chips; when it isn’t perfect, it is sometimes sold to sculptors who make things like these fine figurines:
Silicon eggs, about 3” back to front. Heavy! Ron loved silicon (shiny!) but it’s so reflective that getting a photo to do it justice is impossible.
Each egg has small imperfections, but one has what looks like a broken eggshell - so it’s discounted.
