This bone pathology cast of a human cranium holds interest for educators in the areas of physical anthropology, paleopathology and human anatomy. Cranial meningiomas are not malignant tumors but commonly result in new bone production. This cranium elicits a massive development of spongy bone involving nearly all of the frontal squama and extending onto parietals, especially the left, with some internal involvement. There is also extensive posterior tooth loss, resorption, and alveolar abscessing with a large abscess at the right first molar and a small abscess at the left second molar perforating the maxillary sinus. Additionally, this skull displays artificial deformation (lambdoidal flattening).
