While pigs cannot actually fly despite centuries of wishful thinking and popular expressions, these remarkably intelligent animals have achieved something almost as impressive: they can swim for miles in open ocean, as demonstrated by the famous swimming pigs of the Bahamas who paddle confidently through crystal-clear waters to greet tourists. Pigs are surprisingly athletic creatures who can run up to 11 miles per hour and are excellent jumpers, capable of leaping over fences that would contain much smaller animals. Their barrel-shaped bodies might seem aerodynamically hopeless, but pigs have an unexpected grace on land—they can navigate obstacle courses, learn complex tricks, and even play video games using joysticks with their snouts, proving that while they may never sprout wings, their intelligence and adaptability make them far more remarkable than any mythical flying version could ever be. Perhaps most wonderfully absurd, domestic pigs will actually attempt to build "nests" out of straw and leaves before giving birth, demonstrating the same nesting instincts as birds, even if they must perform this ritual with all four hooves firmly planted on the ground.
