  • Crinoids
Crinoids, or Sea-Lilies, may look like plants, but they are actually animals - echinoderms, related to starfish and sea urchins. 6,000 described fossil species have been found around the world; 600 extant species still 'walk' in coral reefs and on the deep sea floor. We have a few crinoid specimens from Morocco, but for the most part our collection comes from the Midwest - Indiana and Iowa. Much of our American material was prepped and identified by famed preparators Tom Witherspoon and Dan Sinatra.
