Mastodon Molar

KO-199

The mastodon's teeth have cone-shaped cusps and were built for chewing leaves and twigs. The mastodon was shorter than the mammoth and had much straighter tusks. Both Mastodons and Mammoths became extinct approximately 10,000 years ago. We are grateful to the Black Hills Institute of Geological Research for the opportunity to cast these teeth. We are grateful to the Babiarz Institute of Paleontological Studies for the opportunity to cast this specimen.
